MEET RAUL COLLINS

Experience that
connects.
A story that inspires.

Raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Raul found refuge on the basketball court after childhood violence disrupted his family. With his mother’s encouragement and the guidance of coaches, his pastor, and grandparents, he learned the power of discipline and mentorship.

Basketball opened doors to scholarships at Holmes Junior College and Texas Southern University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. His journey later led him to public health and 26 years of service with the Houston Police Department.

Following his retirement in 2024, he continues that work through Collins Stand on My Square LLC—helping young people discover purpose and strengthening understanding between citizens and law enforcement.

As a high-school starting center, Raul helped his team earn state and district championships. At Holmes Junior College, he earned an associate’s degree and athletic recognition including MVP, First Team All-Conference, and All-Region 23 honors.

At Texas Southern University, he studied Sociology, served as president of the Sociology Club, and played on the university’s first NCAA Tournament team. He later pursued professional basketball opportunities and traveled to Cuba and Mexico with a Fellowship of Christian Athletes team.

Before joining the Houston Police Department, Raul spent two years as a Disease Intervention Specialist with the Houston Health Department. Across sports, public health, policing, and mentorship, his purpose has remained rooted in service.
